Given that this site is as much an experiment in building in the Squarespace environment as anything else, I make no claim to having the best, latest, or most complete catalog of items and services of interest. After all, I am no LivingSocial or GroupOn, etc. I am one man. Most days. At best.
Disclaimers aside:
- Amazon Prime: free 30 day trial. By way of my adopted consumer workflow, as with all trials, I recommend setting a cancellation reminder on calendar. I like a warning 3 days in advance of the trial's expiration. (You are using a calendar, aren't you?)
But here's the truth: if you value the convenience of guilt-free ordering from Amazon that includes free 2-day shipping (on darn near everything), you're likely to get the annual fee's worth out of this.
Note to self: publish my calculations on how much I saved last year in shipping after the annual membership fee. (And that doesn't even begin to speak to how much gas I didn't guzzle running around town.)
Bonus material's you'll enjoy: Amazon will comp book rentals (think your local library gone digital -- except better selection and quality) and provide you with unlimited streaming of their Instant Video library. (Historically I was underwhelmed by the collection, but now they're sporting 40,000 titles; or so they say… I didn't count.)
The selection is improving all the time and frankly if you have a device that plays nicely with this Amazon Instant Video, it can quickly and easily expand your access to feature films over and above what comes with your Netflix subscription.
So sign up and in a few weeks come back and comment on your take.
P.S. Netflix, after 9 years together and 700+ movies rated, I would have thought you would know me a little better by now. I'm not going to embarass you listing what is sitting in the "Top 10 Recommendations for Anthony". And for once, it's not a soft spot for the Golden Girls that has put me in this somewhat adversarial relationship.
