In short, because it takes too many different tools to do the job I'm trying to do, for one thing. And another, to the extent future-proofing is possible, it seems most possible on a website that I develop and maintain.

Some of these photos are intimate or highly sentimental, and I want to be able to share them with the right people and password protect access. This also puts the power in your hands for photos you and yours are in. You can download the original high quality photo and put it wherever you're most comfortable -- be that on your computer, phone, the web, all of the above, etc. -- and YOU choose with whom you want to share the URL (a.k.a. web address) and password (to keep out random people more than anything).

If you should have access to these photos but someone goofed and did not give you the password, just fill out this quick form and I will get it to you by e-mail.
